Μετά τη λαμπερή τελετή των Χρυσών Σφαιρών το βράδυ της Κυριακής η περίοδος των βραβείων θα συνεχιστεί με τα βραβεία της Βρετανικής Ακαδημίας Κινηματογράφου στις 18 Φεβρουαρίου.
Οι υποψηφιότητες ανακοινώθηκαν σε ζωντανή μετάδοση το πρωί της Τρίτης από το θέατρο Princess Anne του Λονδίνου από τις ηθοποιούς Natalie Dormer και Letitia Wright ενώ η παρουσιάστρια της βραδιάς θα είναι η ηθοποιός Joanna Lumley.
Η επιτυχία του Guillermo del Toro για την ταινία "The Shape of Water" στις Χρυσές Σφαίρες συνεχίζεται αφού συγκέντρωσε συνολικά 12 υποψηφιότητες ενώ οι ταινίες "Darkest Hour" και «Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri» ακολουθούν με 9 υποψηφιότητες η κάθε μία.
